Jeff Davies, leader and vocalist of the English death metal band DEIR (Do Evil In Return / Pagarás Con Maldad), is a legend of the genre since he confessed, at the beginning of the group's GOODBYE TOUR, in the year 2071, to being born dumb.

"Her stage projection revealed more than the unpronounceable, deep, guttural voices (growls) of any other singer in the genre," commented Tommy Jones, critic for Rolling Stones magazine, who coined the title in a memorable article with the one that Davies would be known from then on: the Rock Mime.
